Drying times vary a lot depending on where you are, so I decided it was unnecessary for me to buy a unit with a timer.

Don't worry, this is one of those times you get so much more than you pay for. Especially if you are like me and new to dehydrating, it's a great place to start. This is my first dehydrator and I love it. It gets the job done quietly and I've found my actual drying times are much less than what recipes call for. After about 8 hours most were done and after 12 all were complete. The thin fruit leather from puree was the big hit better than the commercial version, and the fruit was all eaten the next day at the lake.

I made both of those recipes - it worked out to the T! If you want to have a handy, sturdy food dehydrator this one is for you, affordable and it does the job.

The thermostat is a great feature with which you can dial up any temperature you want. Also, having the heating element, fan on the top makes clean up a breeze. I buy the meats in bulk when they go on sale. I also bought the jerky gun.
